Previously, the penalty varied based on the type of expired visa, but with the new system, the fine has been unified to Dh50 per day, regardless of the visa type. Furthermore, typing offices have reported a reduction in the fees for obtaining a new work visa. The cost has been decreased from Dh304 to Dh254, which is a welcome change for individuals seeking employment opportunities in the country. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security has implemented a mechanism to streamline the process of paying overstaying fines for tourists and visit visa violators. Individuals can choose to pay the fines either by visiting customer happiness centers or through the authority's website and smart application. It is important to note that any additional days spent during the process of requesting documents or updating information will be included in the overstay period. If an application to renew the visa is started but the correct documents are not uploaded within 30 days, or if incorrect documents are uploaded more than three times, the application will be automatically cancelled, necessitating the filing of a new one. Under the new visa scheme, residency visa holders have a grace period of six months to rectify any visa-related issues or renew their visas before facing penalties.
